Welcome to the West London Waste Train Challenge!
Together we can shrink West London’s waste…
The West London Waste Train leaves London 6 days a week. It is 1/3 of a mile long and takes over 10 minutes just to pull out of the station. It is made up of 26 carriages holding 78 containers full of household waste from just 6 London boroughs – Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond. The train’s contents goes straight to landfill here in the UK.
When Karen saw the train for herself she was amazed, “the sheer volume of rubbish was astounding! And to think this train leaves 6 times a week, every week of the year!”.
The truly shocking thing about the West London Waste Train though is that 67% of its contents could have been recycled first!
