If you are intrigued by how society engages with the issue of rubbish or indeed the wider topics of sustainability or climate change, the Science Museum’s ‘Artists on Climate Change’ may be right up your street. Encompassing Joshua Sofaer (the artist behind The Rubbish Collection) and Thomas Thwaite (The Toaster Project), this event invites artists featured in this programme to discuss their work, alongside a range of experts, including The Rubbish Diet’s Karen Cannard, who bring different perspectives to the challenge of engaging audiences with climate and sustainability.
Chaired by journalist, broadcaster and presenter Quentin Cooper, the debate takes place at the Dana Studio, Queen’s Gate, on Thursday 11 September, 2pm-5:30pm. There will also be a chance to have an artist-led tour of The Rubbish Collection, which documents a month’s worth of the museum’s waste. The event is free and places can be booked at the Science Museum’s website, where more information is available.
