(Best Recycled Plastic Product, presented to ObjectForm by host, Alan Davies and RECOUP’s Anne Hitch at the Plastics Industry Awards)
At the recent Plastics Industry Awards ceremony held in London, 3D printer company ObjectForm won the Best Recycled Plastic Product category for its 100% recycled plastic filament.
Launched in 2014, the recycled Fila-Cycle plastics provide an alternative to virgin counterparts, giving a new life to old plastic objects. These plastics, which have been developed in conjunction with leading recyclers, have been rigorously tested by ObjectForm to ensure their suitability for rapid prototyping 3D printing.
Director Scott Knowles, pictured below, was delighted with the win, especially as Fila-Cycle is a relative newcomer and was pleased that their hard work to close the loop has been recognised in this way.
Other contenders for the category included F-Board, scaffolding boards made from 100% recycled plastic and Marmax’s SEN Playground equipment, which is made from plastic bottles. It was definitely stiff competition and it highlights the breadth of applications for plastics recycling in the UK.
The awards category was sponsored by RECOUP (RECycling of Used Plastics), which works across the supply chain to stimulate sustainable plastics waste and resource management, especially the development of plastics recycling schemes across the UK and promotes the use of recycled plastics in high quality end products.
