Pancakes are great at the best of times, but with Shrove Tuesday coming up, we’re raring to go!
Zingy with lemon and sugar or tasty with cheese, pancakes are a fantastic way to make mealtimes easy. Our fabulous chef Maria has whistled up two videos this week….a guide to pancake making for anyone who needs a bit of a confidence boost and a delicious, easy supper with cheese and ham. And there are lots more fabulous ideas from Love Food Hate Waste here. A great way to use up any of that leftover Christmas cheese if it’s still lurking in your fridge or freezer.
Maria’s easy pancake recipe.
Mix up: 250 ml milk, an egg, 4 tablespoons or 4 oz of flour, pinch of salt.
Leave to stand for 20 minutes, so it won’t fall apart as you cook it.
Heat a frying pan, put a tiny bit of oil on the bottom.
Pour in a little batter, spread it thinly. Once it’s dry on the top, loosen the edges with a spatula and turn it over, or toss it!
Happy pancake day!
