The easiest way to recycle is to sort out your bins in the kitchen. You can do this by using 3 small bins: one for food waste, one for recycling and one for your general waste.
I have googled Bins for recycling and found some fantastic bin options. I personally went for white and practical from Ikea, as you can see in this picture. Now, I have a tiny kitchen so it was important that the bins didn’t take up too much space.
Food Waste Bin
Simply pick up a free caddy kitchen bin from Harrow council. Just bring along your council tax letter with you. Then purchase your bio-degradable bin liners from the council or library at £4.20 for 50 bags. To reduce smells you can wrap food in newspaper. A great tip is to line the bottom of the bin with newspaper! Watch Out!! Only use Harrow biodegradable bags as food waste will not be collected if other biodegradable bags are used.
I like having a massive recycling bin so that it doesn’t need emptying so often. Remember the bin-liner must not go into the blue bin outside; but into the green bin instead. Or better still, recycle the bin liner at the supermarket with your plastic bags. Best of all, is to re-use the bin-liner again and again.
